Road Work Notice - Slurry Sealing!

Our contractor is finally set to apply a slurry seal to the roads that were chip sealed earlier this summer.  The work will be done on Friday, October 8th  and Monday, October 11th, weather permitting. Because there is no school on Friday, we will focus on doing school bus routes that day.  That means that Eastgate, Northgate, Holly Way, Dawson, and South Loch Alpine are the priority on Friday.  If time remains, other streets may be done as well. The remaining streets will be done on Monday.

Roads being slurry sealed will be CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC while the slurry is being applied and while it cures.  Curing takes several hours.  Work each day will likely start between 7:00 and 8:00 and roads may be closed until as late as 4:00 pm.

If you live on one of these roads and need to use your car during these hours, we suggest that you park on one of the neighboring streets. We regret the inconvenience, but this is necessary part of annual road maintenance.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Gregg Heidebrink by email at Gregg@wccnet.org or by phone at 424-9371.

Ann Arbor Country Club Update

Dear Neighbors, On Tuesday, the Ann Arbor Country Club Board of Directors informed its members that AACC is in dire financial straits and is recommending an orderly transfer of its assets to the mortgagor, A2C2, represented by Mike Weikle. At a special meeting of the membership on Wednesday evening, the Board and Mr. Weikle fielded questions from members regarding the effects of a transfer of assets. The AACC board considered bankruptcy, foreclosure, a significant assessment of its membership combined with an infusion of cash from the mortgagor, to the orderly transfer of assets.

Huron River Drive Repaving - Good News and Bad News

The Washtenaw County Road Commission has received federal funds to repave Huron River Drive from Tubbs to Zeeb Roads, and from Wagner to North Maple Roads. The repaving is scheduled for this August. Unfortunately, the section between Tubbs and Wagner Roads was deemed to be in too poor condition for simple repaving and therefore ineligible for these particular federal funds.

A group of citizens with the Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society are organizing fund-raising to complete the paving between Tubbs and Wagner Roads. The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) has found ways/sources to DOUBLE match donations.  More information can be found in a recent story in AnnArbor.com: http://www.annarbor.com/news/don-broadway-compared-cycling-the/index.php
