Informational Meeting on Proposed Articles of Incorporation and Bylaw Changes

Dear Neighbors,

The Loch Alpine Board of Directors is proposing some needed changes to the Loch Alpine Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. These changes will be voted on in a Special Meeting of the Loch Alpine Improvement Association to be held in February (exact date not yet determined). To provide an opportunity for community discussion in advance of the Special Meeting, an Informational Meeting will be held Tuesday, Janaury 31 at 7:00 PM at the Webster Township Hall, 5665 Webster Church Rd. Residents with questions concerning the proposed changes are urged to attend this informational meeting.

AACC Announces New Year's Eve Festivities

One sure way to keep the winter doldrums at bay is to keep thinking Spring! The Loch Alpine Garden Club keeps an active schedule throughout the year.

Our garden club has a new meeting day and time. We now meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM. All but one meeting is held in Loch Alpine.

OBJECTIVE: To stimulate the love of gardening, encourage home and community beautification, and to encourage all forms of conservation.

Our 2011-12 year will emphasize on community gardening, gardening in small places, and seed planting. Also scheduled are 3 fantastic workshops. Check out the wonderful program schedule below and come and join us!

December 14	6:00 PM Holiday Dinner – Barb & John Rutz, Bridgway
January 11	Presentation “Gardening in Small Spaces” – Pat Lee’s
February	No meeting
March 14	Workshop – hands on seeding project – Jo Lattuca’s
April 18	Date change. Presentation and cooking demo on herbs and their culinary history. - Kathy Landeck’s
May 23	Work on Butterfly Garden at the lake followed by a potluck lunch. – Barb Quinn’s
June 13	Program on “The Gardens of Southeast Michigan” - Geri Flaherty’s
July 11	6 PM – time change – Garden walk outside Loch Alpine - Home of Noriko of 1805 Webster Church Rd.
August	No meeting

2011 Poinsettia Sale Extended!

The Loch Alpine Garden Club Poinsettia sale has been extended until Tuesday, November 22. Plants will be available for pickup Saturday, December 3, between 11:00 a.m.and 12:30 p.m.

Loch Alpine Park Entrance Refurbished

The LA Park Entrance has been refurbished, special thanks go to Grounds Committee members, Lucy Cohen, Gregg Heidebrink, Stuart Snyder and Lara Treemore-Spears. The entrance now has new and safer steps and a railing that defines the entrance path and helps with erosion problems. New boulders enhance the area and also prevent erosion. Additional landscaping will be added next year.

Halloween in Loch Alpine

Trick-Or-Treat in Loch Alpine will be on Halloween evening, October 31, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 PM. The Loch Alpine Board asks that neighbors avoid driving, includng golf carts, during Trick-Or-Treat hours for the safety of the many children and adults walking on our roads at this time.

Volunteer at the Park This Saturday Morning!

Let's celebrate National Public Lands Day, and all the great Loch Alpine volunteers this year, by having a small celebration and workday on Saturday, September 24, at the park around the playground, 10 a.m.-noon. The neighborhood is looking really nice because of the help of so many volunteers! Bring garden gloves and tools if you want to help.

Let's Go Fishing!

The bass are biting, the bluegills are plentiful, and there may even be a monster pike lurking! Bait will be supplied for the kids. No boat, no worries! There are plenty of places to access our lakes from the banks. Meet us at the park (upper lake) at 9:30am for a “Pre-Tournament” talk about our lakes and the rules for the day. Boat launch and fishing begins at 10am. Catch and release only, please. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, most fish caught, and best fish story! So, bring a pole, bring a camera and “Let’s Go Fishing!!” Contact Jeff Miller at jmiller@ubat.com if you are interested or with questions.

More Slurry Sealing Friday (Weather Permitting)

Slurry Sealing affecting Northgate, Holly Way, St. Andrews, Glen Eagles, Rondo, and the Eastgate Entrance is Scheduled for Friday (Weather Permitting)

Work may as early as 7:00 am and slurried sections may remain closed as late as 6:00 pm.
Both lanes of Northgate between East Loch Alpine Drive and Holly Way will be slurried.
Only the west lane of Holly Way will be slurried. However, this will effectively seal off Holly Way because the slurrying will run from Northgate all the way up to Glen Eagles to cover chip sealing done last year.
The full width of Rondo Ct. will be done.
The section of Eastgate from Canterbury Ct. to the Eastgate entrance will be slurried. Canterbury Ct. will have access from the west.
If you live on an affected street and need to use your car during these hours, we suggest that you park on one of the neighboring streets. As always, we regret the inconvenience, but this is necessary part of annual road maintenance.
